Oooh this soil needs some loving care and attention - there's a sort of hard cap on it of about an inch, and the stuff that we've dug over is so clay-ey it's dried out and set like concrete. In the autumn hopefully I'll be able to get together with other plotholders and put a nice thick layer of manure over the top.
