This popped up where a potato should be. It's a potato...isn't it? I haven't seen any bindweed yet and I know it's coming.
Ground so rock hard I'm surprised anything is growing in it, nevermind something I want to grow.
A very kind freecycler gave me some onion sets yesterday, so they will be next in line to be planted, and then the parsnips which I keep forgetting...

Ha ha. I linked here after you left a comment on my blog (thanks, by the way, it always gives me a thrill to realise that there are actually some people out there reading it!) and what do I see? A photo and post almost identical to mine from a couple of days ago. Glad to know I'm not the only person to not be absolutely sure what a potato plant looks like. :)
I haven't dug mine up yet, but now I'm pretty sure. I'll have to take some more up to date pictures. Although I'm ashamed of all the weeds!
They're for your weed tea, though aren't they? :-)
I first read about this in an organic gardening book I got out of the library a few weeks ago, then it was also mentioned in a Monty Don book I borrowed at the same time - in their versions it was comfrey tea, perhaps mixed with some nettles or dandelions. Mel from the beansprouts blog then wrote about weed tea recently as well (isn't it always the way that you've never heard of something and suddenly it's everywhere?) but reckons you can use any weeds. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet this weekend and get out and dig up some of my giant dandelions - I've been dead heading them regularly but haven't tried just digging any up yet.
