So, three okay rows of potatoes, one row of onions, and a butternut squash that is probably being eaten by slugs as we speak. Rhubarb and horseradish doing well.
And a LOT of weeds. Still, I'm pleased really that its looking as well as it is. And weeds can be dispatched... As can slugs. I might resort to going up to the allotment with a torch and murdering them one by one...
Actually, the butternut squash was a gift from my next door neighbour, so things aren't all bad. Isn't that sweet? He offered me sweetcorn seeds too!

That all looks good. My first courgette appeared over the weekend but the flower fell off it yesterday and it's still only a couple of inches long and very skinny. If memory serves correctly it won't grow more now that the flower's gone so I'm planning on picking it this evening and grating what little there is into an omelette. It'll make me feel better about not managing to successfully grow any salad crops. Yet!
Someone recently mentioned hair as an effective deterrent for slugs, apparently they can't stand the feel of it. I'm saving the hair off my brush every day now and strewing it around my plants - although it's aphids and catepillars I'm having problems with rather than slugs.
And weeds are for making weed tea with - I haven't done it myself yet but the thought of it is almost making me dig up those pesky dandelions in my garden. I'm sure I'll get to it one of these days.
My courgettes aren't flowering yet...
I did make some weed tea. Smells like silage. I don't know why that would suprise me, but there you go.
I'll try the hair thing. I've been using crushed up egg shells, but the slugs just laugh at me...
